Episode Recap:

Phil, Kat, and Randi are at the cafe. Carter asks if anyone has seen the massive dog tied up outside. Kat asks the crowd and some guy in line says it’s his. His character is portrayed as toxically masculine, and he’s just opened a new sandwich spot across the street.

Carter has purchased a gift for Randi and sent Max to give it to her. It’s a chocolate bar that she hasn’t had since she was a little kid.

Randi is happy about the gift but feels that she isn’t doing enough thoughtful gift-giving like Carter does. She wants to get him something but doesn’t know what to get.

Kat has put together a welcome basket for the new guy, whose name is Nick. He thinks she’s flirting and he flirts back. She’s flustered and abruptly leaves.

Oscar walks into the cafe and brings Kat a sandwich from the new place. Kat says that the owner is really annoying. The sandwich, however, is delicious.

Kat walks into the sandwich spot. Nick calls her Kitty Kat. Kat is upset by how he casually breaks rules like painting his own yellow curb and importing illegal cheeses.

Randi is at the cafe and asks Kat and Phil if she has a moment for advice on a gift for Carter - Randi has a number of bad ideas, like a napkin from applebees since that was the site of their first date. She tells them she’s nervous because she’s falling in love with him.

Apparently the sandwich shop is giving away free coffee. There’s a sign right in front of the cafe directing traffic to the shop. Max and Oscar are at the shop when Kat walks in to confront Nick. Kat calls them traitors.

Sheila walks into the apartment and asks what Kat is doing. Kat is working on a 2-part plan. The plan is elaborate and not that good. Sheila thinks Kat has a crush on Nick, which is why she’s exerting so much energy on him. Kat says she has a boyfriend, and Sheila says that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a crush.

Randi walks into the bar and shows Carter a bust that she’s sculpted of him. It’s poorly made and doesn’t look like him at all. Randi says she’s not great at gifts, and Carter tells her that she does a lot of things to make him happy and that it just looks different from his style of gift-giving. She is no longer worried that she’s a bad girlfriend.

Nick wings by the cafe and asks why she stopped coming by his sandwich shop. She’s annoyed and asks for him to leave. Nick asks if Oscar challenges Kat, since she seems like someone who likes to be challenged. He asks her on a date and says they can keep it secret, and she says absolutely not. He leaves.

Kat wakes up with Nick in bed and they’re kissing. She wakes up from the dream and it’s Oscar lying next to her. End of episode.
