Episode Recap:
Oscar and Kat are in her apartment. Randi barges in to share some good news. Randi submitted an application for Kat’s favorite news anchor, Dale Dixon, to do a feature on the Kat Cafe, and they won! Kat is ecstatic. Randi also shares the news that she finally found an apartment to move into and will leave in two weeks. Kat is a little upset about this but happy for her friend.
Sheila is downstairs at the cafe while Kat is frantically organizing everything for Dale’s arrival. Sheila says she’s met him once - they were in line at a bar and he winked at her. Kat is very excited about Dale coming to the Kat Cafe. Someone named Olivia walks in looking to conduct a pre-interview with Kat. Kat sneezes. Olivia asks if she’s sick because “Dale doesn’t do sick”.
Randi is at the bar talking to Max about her new apartment. Max is inspired to put more work into finding his own place.
Max is at the cafe and tells Randi he has 3 apartments to see, and he asks her for tips. Kat walks in and asks if it’s hot in the cafe. Phil asks if she’s feeling ok, since it seems like she has a fever. She doesn’t want to be sick since Dale is coming in 2 days.
Max warns the others that Kat is a menace when she’s sick - she transforms into an angry version of herself called “Katzilla”.
Randi checks on Kat. She has made her some soup and Kat says the soup is too hot and too soupy. Phil brings a cat to cuddle with Kat, but Kat says she doesn’t like cats anymore.
Max walks into the bar and tells Carter that he found an awesome apartment, except it’s 2 bedrooms and too expensive for him to rent on his own.
Oscar checks on Kat. She tries to get up because it’s the day of the interview but is unable.
Max interviews potential roommates - they all have huge red flags.
Sheila checks on Kat. Kat hasn’t canceled the interview so the news trucks are outside. Oscar says that Randi and Phil will do it for Kat, and Sheila tells Oscar that she’ll do the interview for Kat instead and rushes off.
Phil and Randi are telling Sheila that they should be the ones doing the interview, Sheila disagrees. Dale enters with a thrust of arrogant energy, asking “where am I and why am I here?” Dale is attracted to Sheila and hopes that she’ll be the one doing the interview. Randi asks if she’ll at least look over Kat’s talking notes. Sheila says she’s got it.
Kat is trying to get downstairs to prevent Sheila from doing the interview, but Oscar doesn’t let her because she’s still sick. Kat passes out from the energy exertion.
Dale and Sheila are wrapping up the interview, Dale asks if Sheila wants to grab a drink. Olivia says this isn’t the time because there’s a fire on 5th and Grant that they need to cover. This is the exact corner where Randi’s new apartment is located.
Randi and Oscar are at the apartment, Kat has been sleeping for 14 hours but finally emerges, finally feeling better and having no recollection of the past few days. Kat asks how bad the interview went, and Oscar pulls out a video to show her a recording.
Instead of Sheila insulting the cafe as expected, she talks about how Kat is the heart of the cafe and how wonderful the place is. Randi tells Kat that her apartment burned down. Oscar sneezes. Randi tells him to get out before Kat gets sick again and turns back into Katzilla.
Max still hasn’t been able to find a reasonable roommate, and the group realizes that Randi and Max should live together since she no longer has an apartment. The perfect solution.

Apartment interviewee to Max: “My daughter thinks I’m too old to live alone and this is cheaper than assisted living. You may have to help me out of the tub.”
