Episode Recap:
We open to Max and Randi’s new apartment housewarming.
Sheila tells Kat that she met someone at the supermarket who asked her out. She asks if Kat and Oscar will join them for their first date.
At the dinner date, they find that Charles (Sheila’s date) is the owner of a well-known fast food chain called Sargeant McClucks. He seems nice and has a southern accent.
Randi and Carter are hanging out on her new apartment couch. Randi is complaining about Max’s loud voice in common areas. Carter knocks on Max’s door to ask him to keep it down. Max tells Carter that Randi is the annoying one. Carter comforts each of them.
Charles and Oscar get up to use the restroom. Kat tells Sheila she really likes Charles, but asks why there are so many stories about Sheila that she didn’t know until this dinner. Sheila mentions that normally they just talk about Kat.
Kat is at the bar with Phil, Max, and Carter. Max asks how the date went. Kat says it was great, although she’s still thinking about how much she doesn’t know about her mother. It turns out that the others in the group know all of these fun facts as well, and Kat realizes she needs to spend more time with her mom.
Max and Randi confront each other in the kitchen. They’re clearly getting on each others’ nerves. Carter arrives and they ask him to settle it. He decides to put an oversized shirt over them that they can’t take off until they settle their beef. He threatens no sex for Randi and no paycheck for Max if they can’t sort things out.
The shirt is ridiculous. So crazy I’m including a screenshot below. Possibly should be incorporated into next year’s fantasy football punishment.
Kat and Sheila are at dinner, and Kat is interrogating Sheila with interview-style questions. Sheila is clearly getting tired of it. She asks why Kat is asking so many questions and Kat says she wants to get to know her as well as everyone else does.
As soon as Carter leaves, Max and Randi cut the shirt with scissors to free themselves. They start talking about Carter - bonding over shared stories poking fun at him. Max says he’s not used to living with someone else and apologizes, and Randi apologizes for acting out since she originally wanted to live alone. Living together will be a bigger adjustment than they realized and they decide to compromise.
Kat and Sheila are driving home and Sheila pulls over. She tells Kat that her mother never used to pay attention to her, she tried whatever she could but was never noticed. That’s why she paid more attention to Kat and didn’t share as much about herself. She suggests that the two of them get dinner once a month and Kat lovingly agrees.
