Episode 17: "Call Me Flatch"

Episode Recap:

Kat and Randi are at the cafe. Some young people come through and invite them to hang out. When they leave, Nick arrives and tells Kat that she’s paying below market rate on rent. He tells Kat that her rent is going to go up by 40% starting the next month.

Kat pulls Carter aside to ask him for advice about what to do about the rent situation. He tells her she might need to make a hard decision about staff.

Max and Carter are at the bar. Nicole walks in and says she’s playing piano at a fundraiser that Robin Thicke is going to be at. She tells him Max should try to sneak into the event and try to play a song for Robin.

Kat walks in with the young people. She has rented her apartment out to them to make extra cash to support the cafe. Kat has moved back in with Sheila.

Max has snuck into Robin Thicke’s dressing room with a guitar to play a song for him. He’s really nervous. Robin tells him he needs to get ready for his show and to leave a demo CD. Max plays the song anyways, and Robin loves it but also calls security to take him away.

Kat is on the treadmill at her mom’s place. Max has come by with whisky to check in on her. He tells her to keep her head up and that everything is going to be ok.

Kat is at the cafe tutoring a high schooler in math. The roof splits in the cafe because the young tenants forgot to turn the tub off. She needs to find a way to pay for it.

Kat decides she needs to fire Phil. She sits him down and she says she can’t afford to keep him on staff. He’s furious and storms out.

Kat, Randi, Max, and Carter are at the bar. Max gets a call from Robin Thicke who says he wants to record Max’s song.

Nick is at the cafe. Kat starts yelling at him and has a panic attack and needs to go to the hospital. End episode.
